A Matter of Trust lecture performance is a non-partisan low formality presentation of an alternative currency collection of the same name. Through this lecture-performance Noronha Feio speaks, comments, criticizes, and tells the story/history and strategies behind currencies as diverse as the socialist thinker Robert Owens' 1830s National Labour Exchange time-based banknotes; the wild capitalism present in Russia's MMM ponzi scheme; Cildo Meireles 0 Dollar notes; WW I transitional emergency Notgelds; and artist Fran Illich's Spacebank, amongst several others. In A Matter of Trust, the artist's objective is to lure the spectator into a world of possibilities and strategies present in everyday exchanges, which are, importantly, available to anyone willing.

Carlos Noronha Feio was born in Lisbon in 1981, he exhibits internationally, most recently at: Futures at CAC Vilnius, A Matter of Trust at Temnikova & Kasela in Tallinn, Oikonomia: a Matter of Trust at the National Museum of Contemporary Art — Museu do Chiado in Lisbon, as you do on earth… at Galerie Iragui in Moscow, Discursive foundations of sunsight at narrative projects in London, Matter of Trust at Nottingham Contemporary, bathed by the bright light of the sunset at 3+1 Arte Contemporânea in Lisbon.

Noronha Feio was recently awarded a Ph.D from the Royal College of Art in London.
